I've decided to move the majority of my blog over to Blogger.

I will probably still post life stuff here, but most of my crafts will be over at Blogger. It's much easier to use, looks more professional...and I've had this livejournal since 2003, so I needed a new name :)

On Monday November 3rd, I had my first doctor appointment! All they did was do a pap, breast exam and take my weight and stuff. Uhh I've gained like 20 lbs since 2004....but I'm thinking 10 have already been from the baby. It's not that I'm eating bad, but I'm a lot more sedentary now that I'm not working heh. I've been thinking about getting a prenatal yoga dvd or something, I'm kind of worried about doing a regular one because I know there are certain things you aren't supposed to do.

They didi'nt do an ultrasound at the doctor, but he did have this little machine (sonogram?)that he used on my belly, and I could hear the heartbeat! It was great. The doctor wasen't sure exactly how far along I am, but he said 15-16 weeks. I was really hoping that he'd give me a due date though. I have an ultrasound appointment on November 24th at 2pm, and we should be able to find out the sex! Maybe then I will find out a due date, but we are guessing around April 20th.

Here is my bigfoot that I've been working on, although I think the torso is to log...and it looks like he's just sitting down...when those are actually his big feet! I think I might make a smaller version and just offer the pattern with both sizes in it.

I also joined a Christmas ornament swap on Craftster, which I'm done with already. I got my new camera yesterday so I took some pictures, and I'll post them once my swap partner receives the package :D

I was waiting until I went to the doctor on November 3rd to update, but as everyone
knows now, I'm pregnant! We aren't quite sure how far along I am, we are thinking
about 16 weeks now. I'm feeling pretty good, most of the nausea has passed (woot at
not ever throwing up), even though I still sometimes feel it a bit at night. The oddest
symptom I've been having now is heartburn at night, and I've NEVER had it before.

I quit my job about 3 weeks after I found out, being around all those chemicals at work
worried me. I couldn't touch half the facial products (you need to stay away from vitamin A derivatives and some doctors say to also stay away from salicylic acids), and they would always have me rinse out hair color because I had no clients heh. Everyone was super nice there, but their skin department was sloooooow. They had 1 other esthetician who worked Thursday-Saturday, and even she only had a few clients per day. The hair department was fully booked weeks in advanced, so they were a busy salon at least.

I've been working on designing some crochet patterns, and I have 3 now that are totally
finished. I might make another version of each one, just for variety in pictures.
Unfortunately, our camera died on the 2nd day of Blizzcon :(. It was like 3-4 years old,
and well loved so it served it's purpose. I'm looking to get one that can take better
close-up pictures anyway. I put the Blizzcon pictures on Flickr if anyone is interested,
they honestly aren't that exciting.

Blizzcon (Oct 10-13) was a lot of fun though, they had a bunch of developer panels
(Q&A, class design etc), about 3k computers to test out the new games, shopping, food, tournaments (pvp and trading card game), costume contests, wow joke contest, wow dancing contest, Patton Oswald did an hours worth of standup, photo boths....just a bunch of stuff that was a lot of fun.

Saturday night we went to dinner at Gorden Beirsh with Dario, Sida and Richard. It was nice and relaxing, we didin't go to a bar because I coulden't drink, and Sida was tired from working all day. I still would of gone to a bar anyway, but dinner was nicer because we could actually talk to each other.

Sunday we went down to Craig's aunt and uncles house in Palos Verdes, and we went sight
seeing, had dinner with his grandparents, and took a late night drive for yogurt and more
sight seeing. Monday morning we came home and were exhausted, but it was worth it.

We don't have any plans for Halloween yet, but we were invited to Halloween party at Craig's friends house on Friday. It could be fun, we might go. Aunt Sherry wants me to go to her house on Halloween which would also be fun, but it's at least a 2 hour drive now :(

I signed up for a Christmas ornament swap on craftster, and I have some ideas already...
but I need to go to Michaels later!

Apartment and Dinners!

Ahhh I love our new apartment! As soon as we get some little nails to hand things up (so we will be fully unpacked), I'll post pictures. I've been swimming almost every day since we've been here, and I have been laying out in the sun. I know that is a mortal sin, especially being an esthetician....but I've never really spent much time in the sun anyway, so a little sunbathing right now wont hurt so hush. ;)

Tonight for dinner I'm making Coconut Mango Chicken with Black Beans! It sounds super yummy, and looks pretty easy. I've spent way to much money on food lately, but we didint have ANY...not even basic (like vegetable oil) stuff. I also made Pesto Tuna Salad the other day, which was amaaaaazing. Even Craig loved it and he's not a fan of pesto.

I start my new job on the 17th, and I think I'm going to like it MUCH better then Threads. I also am only working four days a week, Sunday through Wednesday. I *think* I get $9 an hour and 40% commission! At Tova's I was only making 35% commission.

That's all for now, I'm hungry :)

Moving and Amigurumi Beer

I just got a call from our apartments saying we could move in on the 25th instead of August 8th!!!!!!! Woooooooooohoooooooooo! I'm excited :) I've already called to get PG&E, cable, and internet set up....but we still need a dresser. I'm about to head over to Bed Bath and Beyond to get a TV stand and a duvet cover if I find one that I like.

I have an interview tomorrow at a different spa in Dublin, the spa that I was at made me very unhappy. I hated everything about it....I would even cry coming home from work sometimes, and I'm not a crier so I had to get out of there. I talked with Craig and we decided that I could quit since he's making enough money until I found something else. So I have that interview tomorrow at 3:30, and then I'm going to drop my application off at another awesome spa that is hiring in Pleasanton. That would be even better! I've already emailed the hiring manager, and he just went on vacation until the 28th, but he said he'd love to talk to me when he gets back.

I crochet this beer bottle and lime the other day, it turned out waaaay bigger then I wanted it to, and the color changes for the label are a little to obvious, so I'm going to take some white paint to touch it up and even it out.

Here are just a few polish reviews....

Avon Baroque

Ew lol, this is not flattering to my cool toned skin. It's really pretty in the bottle a soft copper with gold shimmer...it would looks very pretty on warm skin. It applies nice and doesn't streak, which makes it a winner in my book.

Sally Hansen xtreme Nails in Fashionista Orange:
I love this color, it reminds me of orange soda. I was afraid to try it because I didin't want "construction worker" orange on my nails...but this color is just juicy! It applied nice and smooth and I only needed 2 coats.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Polish in Russet Flame:
This is one of my all time favorites, and I've actually used up half the bottle (that's a lot for me lol). I dont really wear reds much...but this is THE perfect red! It's a brick red with a fine gold shimmer...it even works on my cool toned skin. These pictures dont even do it justice, whenever I can get some new pictures I'll post them. I think it might be discontinued? I hope not :(

Milani Blue for My Baby
I dont think I've ever actually used this for a mani, but I really really like it now that I've tried it! It's a light sky blue metallic, with super super small silver shimmers running through it. It also applied flawlessly, and had a gorgeous finish!

Urban Decay, Nail Polish and Goodwill

Ahh I don't really like this new place that I'm working at. I applied at like 10 more places today, so I will call them on Friday to check on everything.

I went to GoodWill the other day to look for dressers, but they were freaking expensive....almost $100 at GoodWill?! Instead, I got all these shirts for $10 yay. They were all from Target except for the red which was from Banana Republic, and they even still had their original tags on.

There was also a promotion about a month ago from Urban Decay of if you spent $35 you got a free pack of Urban Decay polishes. So, of course I had to :). I bought an eyeshadow palette which was good since I've always wanted to try out their eyeshadows, and it came with an eyeshadow primer potion sample, which is pretty good. I've only tried one polish right now, Asphyxia, which you see in the picture. It's a VERY cool toned silvery lilac, with super fine blue, silver and magenta shimmer throughout. It applied super thin, but as you can see it bubbled on a few nails, which I think is actually because my Seche Vite thickened up quite a bit. Don't mind the chips, this was taken after a few facials and waxings. I really like this color, but it does look kind of freaky in the bottle :)

OPI and Aparment Furnishings

Whew it's hot out today, and it's only 11:15! I had an interview yesterday at a spa in downtown Pleasanton, which I'm not quite sure how it went. It seemed like it was going great, but before I left she said she has a few more interviews to do, but she'd let me know either way. Doh. I really wanted that job. Ah well, at least I still have that spa in Dublin.

I've been looking at stuff for my apartment, but we dont have much money to spend. Here is our couch which we got off Craigslist for $40, it's a mossy green L-shape but it's stacked on top of each other here.

I think this rug would look perfect in the living room, either in front of or behind the couch.

I'm not sure what we can or cannot do with the walls, but these bird wall decals would look pretty cool in the living room too.

We dont have curtains picked out yet, but I like these tree brach curtain holders.

This picture window might be kind of cool, because I dont think we will have much counter space to put pictures!

These branch holders would be cool in the bedroom for my necklaces, or by the door to hang up any jackets. In the summer. :P

I just thought these pictures from Urban Outfitters would be pretty cute too :D

I already bought some towels for the bathroom in turquoise, white and a sandy tan color, along with a shower curtain that is a beach scene. I didin't mean to go so "theme-ish" in the bathroom, but I just loooved that shower curtain.

Whoooooooeeee it's hot today, Yahoo says it's 101. Yeesh poor Craig, he has to wear heavy long sleeves, pants, a mask etc while working outside. Ouch. I had some new nailpolish pics I was going to post, but I think my camera is dead....or all the batteries that I could find are dead. I think the batteries are most likely the case.

I went to Ulta the other day, and scored some awesome deals. I got each of these polishes for $2.99 each:

- My first ever Essie! In Funships...I LOVE the color, and I coulden't believe that I only really needed 1 coat! I don't think I have any other polish where I only needed 1 coat.

- China Glaze Light My Tiki. Gorgeous! Longer lasting then my OPI's have been, through doing numerous facials.

- China Glaze Summer Rain. I haven't tried this one yet, but I'm thinking of doing it tonight.

- My first ever Piggie Polish, in Well Red. I normally dont wear to many reds, but this is a PERFECT cherry popcicle red!

L'Oreal lip products were buy 1 get 1 free, so I got 2 Infallible Never Fail Lipglosses in Bloom and Blush. So far I'm pretty impressed, I still saw some color 2 hours later and that was through lunch! Although they are a bit sparkly, I wish they had more of a jelly like finish.

I also picked up Freeman Pineapple Enyzme Mask...it was only like $3.50, and it has Glycolic and AHA's. I was really impressed by the ingredient list. I've used it once, and it really left my face looking bright and smooth, although you definitely need a moisturizer afterwords!

Craig and I have been looking at apartments lately, and we think we will just end up in Livermore, which is cool. Plus I have an interview in Dublin on Tuesday :)

I created an amigurumi rum bottle! I embroidered "rum" on the tag, just in case it's not legible heh.

New PC and Amigurumi Owl

Wooooohoooo! My new PC came today! Don't ask me specs about it, I have no idea....Craig bought it for me lol. I'm super excited, and he's going to set it up when he gets home from work. I stayed home from work today, I've been sick for almost a week now. I used to *never* get sick, but since I've been working as an esthetician, I've been sick probably 4 times now...sheesh.

I bought the book Amigurumi World: Seriously Cute Crochet the other day, it's by the same girl who designed the patterns for the jellyfish and cactus in previous posts.

My first project was the mommy from "Mommy and Baby Owl", and it was a lot bigger then I thought! I started it yesterday, and finished it today...it was super quick and easy, and very cute :) I used charcoal gray for the top and the wings, medium gray for the body, and neon green for the eyes and the "feathers"....but it looks kind of washed out from the flash.

I made this lil octopus from the Octopus Revolution Flickr group. I think I'm going to add a little tangerine colored flower or starfish to it though. Very easy pattern, although my legs look shorter then some of the other pictures...and I actually forgot to put the 8th one on!

Here is another pattern from Ana Paula Rimoli! I love her patterns, I think I'll go pick her book up at Barns and Noble tomorrow when I'm at work.

The cactus pattern was super super super easy, very beginner level. I stuffed it with plastic bags and some pennies at the base to add some weight and I used embroidery floss to make a few loops for the flower, and simple black beads for the eyes. I need to get some safety eyes!

I attempted to do this with some green eyelash yarn too....yeech that yarn is a pain.

I made this little jellyfish from Anapaulaoli! For some reason mine turned out longer then hers, and I made sure to keep an accurate count...or so I thought. Eh oh well, next time I'll know to make it shorter :)

The fixed the face after I took this picture, it doesn't look crooked anymore heh.

Starghan

I made a Starghan from this pattern at Crochet Diva.

Ahh for some reason this pattern too forever to figure out, the counts seemed to be a bit off for me. Remember *AFTER YOU JOIN AT THE END OF EACH ROW, SL ST ON THE NEXT ST.* That was the only way I could get the pattern to work. I dont know if that was in the directions and I just didin't get it, but it took me awhile to figure that out. After the sl st, ch3 then continue on down the row. Once I got that part down, the rest was cake. I just made sure each new row had 2 more stitches, so my last row was 48 dc, and I did an edging of 50 sc.

If I really wanted a nice blanket that would last awhile, I probably would do another skein....2 skeins really only makes a newborn/young toddler size.

The yarn was a bit annoying as it was easy to catch the hook on the white swirls in it...and the blue was a lot thicker then the green parts, but I liked that...it gave the Starghan a bit more texture.

All and all I LOVE this pattern, and I definitely would make more. You dont need to carry the pattern around with you once you understand the basics so it was easy for me to take this to work. Next time I am going to try for different colors (not a colorway) :)

Last post I talked about L'Oreal Natural Match hair dye in 5N. I purchased 2 boxes (I have long hair) and I actually had about half a bottle left and my hair was fully saturated. I was actually pretty dissapointed in this product. This is the first brown dye that actually made my roots look brassy. Wtf. Maybe my natural hair is a cooler tone? No idea, all I know is I've never had that happen with any brown dye. I also felt my hair looked kind of flat and not shiny after, usually when I dye my hair it's super shiny for a few days after that. Not so much with Natural Match. Also, the conditioner that comes with it does *NOT* feel conditioning! Normally hair dye conditioners leave my hair super soft, but even in the shower I felt like I needed some of my normal conditioner! Maybe there is less 'cones in it, I didin't read the ingredients. All in all, I probably wont be repurchasing this brand, I'll go back to my L'Oreal Preference.

I also talked about the Sally Hansen Carmindy makeup. First off, the pros.

Pros: It really does make my skin look healthy and soft, and I've gotten compliments when I wear it. I dont think it looks like I'm wearing foundation, and it's pretty good coverage. I probably could of gone a shade darker with this one, or I should have bought the correct loose powder shade (I bought the yellow corrector one, not the one that was sitting next to this foundation).

Cons: I think this is a shinier looking foundation...it definitely gives that dewey look, so if your skin is super oily I would stay away from this. It also gave me a few comedones, but I went from mineral makeup to liquid...and the mineral makeup left my skin super clear.

As of now, I would repurchase this foundation. It's been hotter here lately, so it's definetely going to go through a heat test!

Dario and Sida are coming up to visit this weekend, and hopefully Richard or Jose come too. We haven't seen them since New Years, and I dont think we've seen Richard or Jose since last September! I'm going to try and get Sunday off of work so maybe we could all do something, like the beach or we can see if there is another festival this weekend. A few weeks ago we went to the Livermore Wine Festival which was pretty fun...and we saw Cajun with his band.

So it's official now. Sassy, Clipy, Mol (maybe with fer and cord), Craig and I are all going to Blizzcon this October!! I can't wait, we've never been. Hopefully we will get a cool Murloc prize like they've done in the past :)

Ulta and Carmindy Natural Beauty!

There is a new shopping center that opened up down the street from me a few weeks ago, with an Ulta! Yay! I had never been to an Ulta before, and let me tell you, it was magical. It was really cool to see all the nailpolishes that I want in person, I wanted like 10 different ones! I had never seen Piggy Polishes in person, and they have some amazing summer brights with cute little toe rings around the cap. although I would never pay full price for them when I could get them for half the price at these places:

I did end up picking up some L'Oreal Natural Match hair dye in 5N, which looks a bit darker then the picture. I'm excited to test this dye out, I've heard some great things and I love that it's ammonia free.

I was also able to find the Sally Hansen Carmindy makeup!!! It's actually called Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy. I loved how the foundations/powders/concealers were set up, there was 2 sets of "light" and 2 sets of dark", depending on your undertones and your shade. I bought the foundation in Nude Beige, which surprised me since I really thought one of the lighter ones would of been best. I have yet to try it since I already had makeup on yesterday, but today I'll definitely be trying it. I did test it on my chest and arm, and it blended seemlessly and matched perfectly, but the real test is how it tones down the ruddiness in my face, and blends it with the rest of my body!

I also bought the translucent powder in the yellow based neutralizer, which I'm psyched on since it's a yellow based loose powder. Most "translucent" loose powders always seem to have a pink undertone, so I immediatly grabbed this one when I saw it was yellow based. They also had 3 other loose powders, one was pink based and the other 2 were for darker skin tones.

They were both $12.99 which I admit is more then I'd want to spend on a drugstore loose powder, but I'm excited to see if the yellow base will truly make a difference.

So tomorrow is my 24th birthday...and I'm actually looking forward to it. In year 24 I'm finally going to have my own place, get a new car...and grow up. I've been updating my wardrobe slowly, moving from the juniors section to the women's section...I almost wish I would be nominated for What Not to Wear! haha.

The engine in our car died last week...and we finally got it back after the 2k repair bill. ouch.

I've been having fun on Taaz doing makeovers. It's super easy and free...so here are the ones I've done :)

This was the first one I did...just me but better. A bit more makeup, sleek layered hair...I really like the cut.

This is me with a short brunette bob. I LOVE this! Craig doesn't like the short hair...but I think it looks pretty sheek and cute.

This one was a bit crazier with blue eyes and blonde hair...I was going for a beachy look :)

I dont really like this one....I'm not a fan of red lips, I'd much rather do a smokey eye/nude lip combo. I kinda like the hair though.

Ahh I really should update more. I didin't realize if I updated my LJ to S2 it would change my layout. Bah.

I'm still working at Tova Yaron, and I've been there 6 months now....so I should get 35% commission now yay! I'm really liking it....great people, a low key and relaxed atmosphere, and I've got some regular clientele now. I just wish they did more training on skin and the products.

Craig got a job!! It's for an exterminator position at Point Pest Control, which is based in Livermore but they have a San Jose route. He's actually in Sacremento for training today through tomorrow so he's excited, but it's weird having the room all to myself.

I'm currently working on a star shaped baby blanket...but it's taking forever! You can find me on Ravelry for more projects :D I made Craig this beanie a few months ago:

Ah 2008 already. Sheesh 2007 went by super fast....I hardly posted on my Livejournal because Craig has been unemployed....and I like to do post on my own time.

Work at Tova Yaron is doing ok...I mean I love the job, but I hate when I have to sit around waiting to see if clients come, I'm on commission only, so it gets boring. I actually just applied to a new spa, so hopefully that goes somewhere.

Craig and I have been talking about wedding plans finally...and we are hoping to get married this summer. I only want 1 ring, not both a wedding ring and an engagement ring. I dont normally wear rings, and I cant wear them at work, so 1 would be perfect. I'm thinking of this ring , I think it's beautiful. I didin't want just a diamond, so an aquamarine with 2 diamonds in white gold (I wanted titanium though since it's a tad darker) is perfect.

Something like this is pretty too, this is actually the style Craig was going to get me.

I finally got to see Konner on the webcam....oooh he's the cutest baby I've ever seen :)

I cant believe it's almost Christmas already! I've got a couple of gifts....mainly for Clipy and Sassy right now. So far I've got:

Craig:
-Shhhhh! I got him Guitar Hero 3 for the PC!!! All he talks about is wanting to play it, and if we go somewhere that has a demo, he always plays. I'm also probably going to crochet him a beanie.

Sassy:
-Sassy Strawberry Mint bodywash and body lotion from Bath and Body Works.

Konner and Amanda:

I'm not sure what I'm going to get both sets of grandparents, I'm thinking maybe some of those foodie gift sets from Target (spices, hot chocolates, marinades etc).

Work is going pretty good. I'm still at Tova Yaron...and I like the freedom of not having to be there if I have no clients, and I can always go shopping (since it's at Westgate mall) while I wait for clients. I never work past 7pm, and 9 is the earliest that I start. The only problem is that I might not have *any* clients some days. It just depends. I'm thinking of applying at InSpa, because they get paid hourly and have benefits, paid vacations etc.

I've gained like 5lbs in the past 2 months of living here haha....I'm not used to having so much food in the house :P

Craig lost his job in April, and it took so long for my esthetician test/license to get to me....that we ran outta money heh. Ramen and water is what we lived on for about 2 months, sometimes we had some black coffee...but that was about it.

So three weeks ago we moved back to San Jose, and into my parents house. So far so good....it's nice to have some real food and sugar for coffee, and we are still able to bring our PC's out to the dining room and hook them up for internet access.

I ended up getting hired at Tova Yaron Day Spa & Salon, which hasn't gone the greatest so far. I've been to "training" twice, and I still haven't really been taught the facials, although I did learn how to use the Microdermabraison and Diamond machines. Today was to be the first day that I was on the floor and taking clients. I was supposed to work from 1pm - 8pm....so I get there at 1 and I have no clients yet, so I end up cleaning all the wax pots and wax off the floors. At 2:30 Tova came in and said I can go shopping (the spa is at a mall) or do whatever, and they would call me when I got a client. Luckily Craig was in the area job hunting, so he came back and we ate our sandwiches I had made and just kinda hung out. At around 4pm I get a call from the spa, hoping I had gotten my first client! Nope. They said I could just go home...it's a slow day today. That would be fine if I was getting paid by the hour, but the job is commission only. Tova is opening a 2nd location at the Fairemont Hotel in November, so I will be able to go back and forth between locations.

Every Tuesday at 9am is a hiring fair at Burke Williams Spa in Santana Row. So last Tuesday I get up 6am to get ready for the hiring fair, do my hair, drive aaall the way down there in rush hour traffic, find parking and get ready to go in. It was about 8:55am when I got there....and the receptionist said it was full :|
